This is an iconic example of a Piyyut (litrugical poem) that comes from the Sephardic tradition. Most people are only familiar with the first verse, as most composers choose to set/use primarily that verse. However, the original poem is much longer and details perameters of traditional Shabbat observance, almost like a teaching tool. This melody that Bonia Shur has set is almost ubiquitously associated with this poem throughout the Jewish world.
